In this course, students learn
- to use different materials and the various possible assemblies in building custom cabinetry wood and the dimensions of the various components of furniture based on ergonomics
- to become familiar with the methods involved in constructing custom furniture
- how to create furniture and furnishings using various materials, such as wood, steel, plastic, and glass
- the necessary knowledge for optimal materials use, and a good work methodology that accounts for the ergonomic and budgetary constraints in custom furniture design.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to design and draw plans of custom wood furniture based on their choice of materials and assemblies. They also will be capable of creating working drawings, making project quotes, and designing custom furniture that responds to clients’ demands.
